Maps

Post by Junkaroo » Mon Apr 09, 2018 5:20 pm

Just a thought ...But with all the maps we have it seems the same ones keep coming up.
Sorry to say but a bit boring. I know I can change maps but some players don't read English..LOl
Can a better map rotation be put into place?
Some of the maps players leave, So I do change it and they return.
Just a suggestion.

Good thought......
The reason the same maps shows up is because the mapcycle gets interrupted and starts over at some point when someone changes the map.
so if i do change the mapcycle it's just going to happen again
it can't be helped...
We have 157 maps in just the mapcycle list. Now if the game would play without fraglimit but only timelimit
it would take about 40 hours to complete that mapcycle from start to end
You'd be surprise how many of them speak and understand English. they just won't reply.
All you have to do is ask once... if no reply?.. Change it

I have attached a file that shows all the maps on the server.

I'll look into mixing up the mapcycle list we have now.. see if that would work.

Great sounds like a plan.
One other hint. Large maps I notice players leave. That's when I change map and wala there all back.
So I see I don't want to change maps very often seeing that it starts all over.
Let's see what you come up with. Thank You

We ViPs have an informal rule that the winner of a map gets to choose the next map.
Seems to work pretty well, especially for those of us who win often.

Agreed, some of those big, slooow maps need to be identified and purged.
As a rule, that should be any map where it is difficult or impossible to get 70 frags in 15 mins.
I call such maps "unfappable" and skip or change them on sight.

OK
Make a List
There is not one map in the mapcycle i can't get 70 frags in 15 mins

I think I've asked for map request about a 100 times.
including removals..
there is probably a hand full of map I have that is over 20 slots
Subtransit map is a 17 slot map

What I can do is turn off the fraglimit and turn up the timelimit so everyone will get bored playing a map for 30 and maybe ending the map with 1000+ kills
or we can set the server to play just 1 map all day long
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

Happy Gaming

oh by the way..
Not trying to step on any toes here But
I don't recall that rule on winner of a map gets to choose the next map....
if anything the loser gets to select..... But i'm not saying it's the rule

Lets try to be fair

I am working on the maps that are too big and players set out.

Also looking for large maps that seem not to be fun to play.

Back at you when I get a list.

ok..
I have a question
If a person has the ability to change to a different map on a server why is it so important to change the already mapcycle.

Personally I like a Variety of maps.
When I really play the game, I like to move around a Map. Not get spawn killed all the time.
that is why is I like large NOT huge maps
The server is a 20 slot server so it should have maps that can handle up to 20 slots.
Maps too small is a waste. Like batcave map. I think there is only 2 spawn point in it and it is a joke of a maps.
getting ready remove a few other way too Small maps as well

I just haven't had the chance since I've move in this house and now been sick for the last 4 day.... LOL

oh well, I will get to it soon I hope

Happy Gaming.

Well some may not agree But these are the maps I came up with that players
set out or leave.
Dust Arena
Mansion-ms
vertigo
vengeance
and at times Kitkat-Jeweal

also really boring elite

I agree with Dust Arena and vengence.
Mansion is ok, but I could take or leave it.
KitKat Jewel is a beautiful map...a bit big, yes, but still a work of art as are all KitKat maps.
Find elite more annoying than boring, between the upper level campers and getting sucked into that damn vortex.
Strongly disagree on vertigo, though.
It rocks, I love it!

Some more thoughts on maps:
I'm partial to fast-paced, high octane, adrenaline fueled ones. Rattlerv2 and Iceworld are two fine example (or Clawed would be a 3rd).
Unfortunately, such maps are also prone to camping, which like it or loathe it is part of the game, as is spam. True virtual warriors learn to deal with it and even turn it to their advantage sometimes.

But I will concede that I enjoy a change of pace sometimes, especially on large maps that have aesthetic value and imagination. KitKat _Steampunked for instance. Another good thing about these maps is they help clear out the server when it becomes too crowded. Either most of the meatbots leave or they get HPKicked when their pings go up, which they are prone to do on big maps.

Also, I promised Flatline I'd test out all the maps and report to him which ones crash the server.
I'm sorry I have yet to complete that task (damn RL!).
So far all I have found are: ancient_box and danger.
I may have reported that already...I can't remember what being a senile delinquent and all.
